I am interviewing at NYMC on Friday Feb. 4th and they mentioned that it was one of the last interview days that were left. Do you think this mean that I am already considered at the bottom of the priority list since they waited so long to give me an interview? Is there anyone who has already interviewed there because I know they are centered around the problem based learning format which is kind of intimidating. And I know that the day begins with a "formal" interview but it was unclear whether they would be conducted as private one on one interviews with you and the director or group interviews with multiple prospective students or a panel of faculty and just you.

If you are students who applied or interviewed or have been accepted to NYMC am I way off that I get the sense that they seem to really try to look at their applicants as a whole person and not just stats because I had pretty much ruled out going there even tho I applied since I didn't meet their GRE minimum recommendations but they offered me an interview anyway... I feel like my GRE scores are a chip on my shoulder and I have to really wow them in my interview... If anyone has any insight into their philosophy I would appreciate it.

I tend to over-analyze situations so just any information on NYMC would be great...

I interviewed at NYMC for one of their first rounds of interviews back in October. There were only about 8 of us there that day and I got the feeling that they were interviewing 8 people every Friday through February. I had submitted my application very early (like August) so I feel like that is why I got an interview invite.

It is a very formal process, but nothing to be worried about. They will sit you around a conference table and tell you everything you could possibly want to know about the program. The interview is just you and one of the faculty members. They will read all of your credentials very thoroughly and come up with specific questions for you.

For Ex: I didnt do so hot in chemistry, and I had a rough semester freshmen year. They asked me about both those things. So just be prepared to talk about your low GRE score.

I was accepted into the program, however I know 3 other people who interviewed that day were wait listed. I wouldnt worry about interviewing late because they have previously been waitlisting people waiting for better people to come along.

Hope this helps! PM me if you have other questions.
