Complete in August and total silence.

I have just assumed that I was rejected by now 🙁 Ive been complete for a long long time, but no word. I check my status online every other day and nada.

Lets all call and beg, because that might be my last hope 🙂

Let's all show up at Westchester. I read they have a mental asylum nearby the school, so we can threaten to sue for them going AWOL on our application and driving us nuts.

havent heard anything since August
I thought the rumors on SDN were that they had finished interviewing at NYMC.

As for mental asylums and medical schools, I got the wierdest email from mount sinai saying that they were refundung my secondary application fee because they didnt get to review it. Has anyone gotten this message from any school before??? Its just soooo wierd. I feel neglected, like my file had literally fallen behind a desk or something 😕 😳

NYMC should refund us all with $100 waiting "under review" since August 😡 The worst thing is that they are being complete a$$s on the phone and won't give you any useful info about your status.

Maybe they're really, really slow. I also sent in my secondary in August and I heard from them last week. I wasn't too sure what they were doing and thought it was odd to not hear anything for sooo long. Anyway, they have given some, if few, responses, so good luck to all of you!

Same boat as all ya'll with the utter, total, impenetrable silence and stonewalling on the phone since Aug. Medicworm: did you get a rejection or an interview? I hope it's the latter, because that means the rest of us can sustain a sad little sliver of hope that we're not rejected yet.

Has anyone even been rejected from NYMC or are they just messing with our heads with this "under review" business? I for one, have given up on NYMC and am just planning for the 2007 application cycle :scared:

I also gave up on NYMC, and will be going to another medical school in the Fall. NYMC is nowhere close to special, they should just make their minds up faster.

NYMC may not be special, but ill sure as hell take an acceptance from them 😀

haha...no kidding.

i'm down to that and another NY state school...and would rather have two schools to interview at than just one.

I've been complete for a while too (though very late-december). I have been calling and checking my online status and nothing. I am thinking that a rejection letter is being printed, but where are all those people that have been waitlisted/rejected? All I hear are people being either accepted or recieving no info as to what their status are. Can only assume that they are almost done filling up the class, and that we will find out soon enough. Has anyone heard of people recieving their rejection letters yet or are they going o send those in a batch (pre- and post interview applicants) at some point?

There have been a ton of people WL'd. There have been a good number rejected. And alot of people accepted. Just in terms of SDN the breakdown is something like 40 %accepted, 45% WL, and 15 % SOL post interview.....

Wow, thanks for the info!. Now it''s just a game of wait and see (or stress!).

They are just very slow! I interviewed there at the beginning of January. They take forever to go through their stuff. The bad thing is that they usually take 8-12 weeks to get back to you with their decision so your wait is just beginning. The good thing is that they said that almost 50% of all interviewees will be selected! Interesting note: ALL of my fellow interviewees (including me) only plan to go there if our #1 doesn't plan out. They have GREAT Financial aid and institutional support though.

Same. And they interviewed me last year...
what was ur outcome last year? WL or straight rejection though?

Straight rejection.

I asked them how to improve my app. Did everything they wanted... still nothing.

Wack, I have some info from the UC office about the WL if you want it...

Did anyone receive an email requesting your transcripts? NYMC emailed me the request today...I hadn't heard anything from them since November.

Sorry, it took a while. I forgot about this thread. 😳 . They gave me an interview so don't give up hope! They're pretty nice about scheduling too since I'm flying out to the East Coast tomorrow, and they let me schdule their interview on Monday just last week. Good luck all!

Well, they're certainly taking an interest in you. I guess that means they're snailing through the applicant pool.

I got that email also. I was complete Nov 15 and got the email Dec 28 requesting transcripts. I called and asked who they send it to (everyone, or just people who are borderline) and they told me they request transcripts from anyone who was taking at least 12 hours of class in the fall. It doesnt really seem like that's true though, they probably send it to borderline people.

I recently emailed them asking when I might hear about an interview. They sent this reply:

Dear Class of 2010 Applicant:

I was waitlisted in December and my page has never changed.

Actually, the request reasoning might be true. I didn't get a request for a transcript probably because I took 13 units in a quarter system. That would be 8.7 AMCAS semester units for that quarter (No winter for me, I'm done... Yay!... Maybe...)? Were you enrolled in 12 or still taking another year?

Did you hear that? Neither did I. Dead silence from NYMC. Complete since August.

I was taking 17 credits in the fall. So I was def over the 12 credit line. But I wonder why they waited to ask me for transcripts until now, rather than at the end of december (i finished early december)?

i was complete in november, and then out of nowhere received an interview invite this morning for a may interview. just thought it would help.

I just declined my interview offer, so hopefully at least one of you will get one soon. The choices to choose from were April 25, May 1, & May 2. Good luck.

Anyone know how long interview days last? What time should I expect to be done, and how long does it take to get to Lagaurdia Airport then?

It takes about 45 minutes or so from La Guardia to NYMC when you take a shuttle (but consider it was snowing then so that is why it could have taken a while). The interview day ended around 1:30pm, but it's longer if there are afternoon events (which I think are optional). I hope this helps.

oh is there a direct shuttle from laguardia airport to nymc? or do you have to transfer to train station or something?

Yes, you can get a shuttle from the airport directly to the school. To get a shuttle, you have to go to the transportation services (there are signs pointing how to get there) and ask if there are any shuttles available. I believe the shuttles cost about $50 which is a little less than what a taxi may be to get to the school.

If you feel like battling the subways and trains, you could get there for under $20, including the short cab ride for the last leg. It's a bit of a pain, though, especially if you're not familiar with nyc.

For all you guys who are interviewing, theres a guy who works security at the school who has his own transportation system, called SPICY transportation. He's a little bit cheaper private, plus he'll definately know the way since he works at the school.

The price is $40/person + bridge toll. If you are interested, you can call (914) 886-8202.

A few of my friends from cali use him when they fly back in. I'd call and mention you heard it from one of your friends from NYMC. This is the best way I'd say. You can PM me if you have any specific questions.

How long is the drive from Nanuet to Valhalla?

Also, if one is coming from the SE PA area, I assume its better to take the Garden State Parkway and Tappan Zee Bridge instead of crossing over at George Washington Bridge in NYC and taking the Hudson up, is this correct?

Thanks for the help.

bump

maybe boyz of 4d or anyone else from NYMC could respond to my question in previous post

Thanks

according to mapquest nanuet to valhalla is 26 min (17 mile). The path you gave from SE PA is def the best. Tappan zee is always the safest, GW always has garbage going on.

would an 8:30pm flight on the day of the interview be enough time to finish the interview day (+ a few optional activities if time allows), and to shuttle back to LaGuardia airport (is the shuttle continuous or only like once a day?)

just wanted to make sure before buying the ticket...

yes everything ends by 2, your interview will be done by noon, followed by a tour (goes till around 1ish) then a lunch till about two. After that if you have some time I'd recommend going to check out the childrens hospital, its amazing.

You will have to schedule the shuttle yourself. The scheduling is pretty flexible, but not quite as much as a cab or private car, so keep that in mind. There is a list of them on the LaGuardia webpage.

hey guys, quick question. i'm looking at trains from Grand Central to the school. the NYMC website said to get off at white plains/north white plains, but there is also a valhalla stop which is where i thought the school was. any recommendations as to where to get off?

It will be easier to go to white plains, there are a lot of express trains that go there. Then take a cab to the school, which is about 10 dollars.
good luck.
