Hi

I am going to be entering my first year at either NYMC or AECOM. I was accepted to NYMC a while back and i recently was pulled off the wait list at AECOM and was given acceptance. Basically i am just looking for any comments you ortho men and women might have on the two schools from your perspective.

Thanks,
Timbre

I am currently an Ortho Resident and I would definitely go to NY medical college if you are interested in Ortho. It is an Allopathic school and your chances are much improved to get an ortho spot by going to the Allo school (given that you are also on of the top tier students in your class). If you go to the Osteopathic school, your chances of getting an ortho residency (allo ortho res), is almost 0 percent. There are 3000 or so ortho residents in the US total and out of that number less than 15-20 are DO docs. and less than 1-2% are International Medical Grads.

I think that by AECOM, the person meant Albert Einstein Yeshiva College of Medicine, which is allopathic like NYMC

I would choose AECOM. It is affiliated with two awesome ortho programs and you will get a lot of exposure to ortho. Every year they match about 7-10 students in ortho. I had two classmates of mine match at Joint Disease.

lol. Granted, Albert Einstien went from a top 20 school to the ~35 they are now, but I didn't know they had became and Osteopathic school. I definately think AE would be the better school.
