What does NYMC expect you to talk about when they ask you about "red flags" at the interview? How do you handle it? Thanks!

depends what it is. They are asking you if anything negative stands out on your application...they are asking you to come forward and admit it before they find it out on their own and can't ask for an explanation. Any bad grades? withdrawals? repeat of entire semesters? any brushes with the law? i'm not even sure what else comes out on applications....

It is a closed-file interview, so pick something they might ask you to explain if they had had the chance to look at your file beforehand, and then explain it. I don't know what one would say if one had a perfect record, but I certainly had plenty to talk about. I have a C on my transcript, in biology no less, so I explained that I had gone to an arts high school, hadn't really had any science before the class I got a C in, and then pointed out that I ended up majoring in biochemistry with an OK gpa. I think that's about what they're looking for...?

Good luck!

what's a perfect record? i suppose you can say anything. at first i said i didn't have a "red flag". i just explained why i switched majors which was really no big deal but i really didn't know what to say.

It actually functions in helping you out. It gives you a chance to explain anything negative that might be on your application and to shed light on it.
