ok, so as it stands, it looks like i'm going to NYMC. just sent in a withdrawal from Drexel and my other schools are just waitlists.

anyway, i'm looking to start finding some housing options. basically, i don't want to live in the dorms, and unless my gf (of 5 years) and i suddenly decide to take the plunge, we're not going to qualify for the married housing on campus.

i'm looking for housing that's close to nymc while also close enough to public transportation to manhattan. my gf will be attending school in mid town manhattan so she needs easy access to NYC. i guess we could live in nyc, but the expense would probably be astronomical, so we figure we should look nearby nymc instead.

any thoughts? comments? anyone in a similar situation?

Look for a place in White Plains. She can grab the metro straight into the city, and you will be no more than ten minutes from NYMC. About 70% of the people who live in WP work in the city. I personally live down in Yonkers and a drive to NYMC is ten minutes max, and the city is 20-25 min drive at most and thats to midtown. PM me if you need any info.

Metro? Are you from DC or Europe? 😉

actually you do that the ny metro up to that area... it is not the subway...

I know it's not the subway. The train line is actually called MetroNorth. I never heard anyone call it "the metro" -- just having a little fun.

Thanks for all the replies everyone!

i'm definitely going to look into living in westchester. my gf's school in midtown manhattan doesn't have housing, so she needs to find housing anyway. it'll make sense for us to live near a train station somewhere nearby nymc.

anyone have any ideas an exact location or any one know where i can look for housing? website? newspaper?

I have an interest in this thread now. Anyone have any new suggestions?

i was told by the housing office to look for housing in tarrytown and the city of whiteplains if you want to be within walking distance to a train station. in mysituation, this is necessary, cause my gf needs train access. you can call the housing office and they can giv eyou more details... they're very nic.e
