The "knockmyassoutsoIcanactuallysleepandmurdertheMCATonsaturday" medicine.

Really though, it's 2am friday morning. Of course it really sucks to still be awake, but I'm more concerned about this messing up my sleep pattern. I'm trying to avoid a repeat of this situation 24 hours from now.

Any opinions? It's been a real long time since I've (mis)used this stuff, but as I recall, I'd always wake up very refreshed and ready to conquer all. From the bottle is more tranquilizing than in gel-capsule form, as I recall.

Thanks! Good luck to all!

If you're testing at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, come say hi at lunch. I'll be the tall brown haired guy eating a green pepper stuffed with salmon.😀

NyQuil doesn't really make my sleepy.

But the Friday before the MCAT last year I went swimming. Not just playing around in the pool swimming I swam alot of laps.
That really helped me go to sleep that night.

That's exactly what i plan to do, swim-

then Saturday morning, 6:30 am, i'll do sprints...10 sets (that always gets me revved up, keeps my blood rushing throughout the day.

Immediately after the test, i'm going to swim laps again.

You should have been thinking about (and trying) this weeks ago so see if it would affect your cognitive skills. It's better to be tired than in a drug fog.

I hope you didn't really take Nyquil the night before the MCAT. 😱 Anytime I have ever taken it when not sick, it made me feel absolutely horrible the next morning. That is NOT what you want on such an important day!! Of course, it may affect you differently, but I hope you are wide awake and killing the test right now!

I had a tough time getting to sleep the night before the MCAT (yesterday) and I woke up several times during the night :-(. I only ended up getting 5-6 hrs of sleep, which is not much for me. I had a good breakfast (900-1000 kcal), 150 mL of Diet Coke in the morning, 600 kcal and 500 mL Diet Coke at lunch and I was fine.

Also: expecting that I might not get much sleep on Friday night, I took afternoon naps and didn't use caffeine in the days leading up to the MCAT, so I wouldn't be severely sleep-deprived.
