I got accepted into NYU's 7 year BA/DDS program!!!! woot, now I just have to work my *** off for 7 years..........and the giant debt that comes with it😀

What's the debt with interest acrual, like $600k?

no I think it's more like 350k if I commute during 4 years at dental school.

Hey omg I got into it too! Are you definately doing the program?? I'm still debating I want to know more information about it

Why not apply to UOP's 5-year DDS program for students out of High school. UOP is expensive too.. but it would save you 2 more years and might come out ahead considering NYU is also so expensive.

I'm certain I want to be a dentist, so basically NYU would save me a year, I could go to University of Oklahoma----it would be a lot cheaper but since I graduate there in 8 years, the year that I save at NYU would be used to pay off the debt so it kinda evens out. I'd rather be at NYU though, it would definitely give me the experience and independence. Once again I'm not to worried about the debt because dentists make good money😀, plus my parents are willing to pay my undergrad debt.
I should have applied to UOP's program, I had the scores/qualifications to get in, but oh well....

yea i got into it too! and im going!

dr. millisevert, i did apply to that program and got into the 5 year program as well. however, i am certain i want to practice in NY, and dont want to take separate board exams all over again. and also, the guarantee isnt as good as NYU's one.

I'm not too familiar with these BA/DDS programs. Do you have to apply to them while you're in high school? How exactly does it work? It's a little late for me as I already graduated college but I'm just curious.

sounds about right with undergrads AND dental school.

but at least theres no headache (you still need to be REALLY good and get good DAT scores (otherwise u get booted)

My undergrad used to have a 7yr BA/DDS program, where you would do 3 yrs undergrad and then matriculate into our state dental school. However, this program was abolished in 2004 (figures, right when I start undergrad lol), because lack of interest. It was extremely difficult, where you had to take all your science pre-req's + enough credits to graduate in 3yrs, maintain a high GPA, and score a 21AA on the DAT at least. One student that was in the program was "dropped" because he did not meet the DAT requirement when it came time to take the test in his 3rd yr undergrad.

Yea the D-school has all the right to boot you out if you dont fulfill the requirements. Your acceptance is "contingent on...DAT...GPA...etc". Nothing is really guaranteed in life....so work your lil undergrad butts off to get there!!!
