I was wondering what kind of grades you'd have to get in your last year to keep your acceptance. My first term was strong, gpa there of about 3.7, but my 2nd term average may be more around 3.0. Do you think that this can jeopardize my spot? What if I end up getting a couple of 50s or 60s in 2 half courses?

If anyone has info, let me know, thanks guys.

Hey dude, don't worry about getting a 3.0. You'll be fine.

We need to maintain a satisfactory academic record (which means a 2.0 semester gpa). But we shouldn't go for the lower limit as it might tick them off.
An electrical engineering class, signals and systems, is kicking my butt!!!

Hahaha that's great to hear man, I could probably sleep through half of my exams and end up with a 2.0 in classes. What happens if you fail a course though and it doesn't affect you completing your degree? Do they still look at semester average in that case? Just curious!

I'm sure you won't be failing the course, but if you are worried about the numerical grade effecting your gpa, then go speak to your counselor to see if you can make the class pass/fail. That way, even if you pass by a millimeter, it isn't factored into gpa.

The deadline for pass/fail designation may have passed, but if you speak ever so softly and whisper romantic nothings into your counselors ears, then it might work. I know its possible, my friends have done it. Now if your counselor is a guy...then you might want to take a different approach.

Thanks for the input but yeah I doubt I'll even get close to failing it, but even if I wanted to I don't think I have the option of making it pass/fail. Even if I could, and the counsellor was a female, then I don't think my girlfriend would like that much, hahaha.

ay, what can I say? you gotta do what you gotta do, tell your gf to quit breakin ya balls

Just kidding, but its a shot man. Otherwise, tough it out, and do everything in your power to improve that grade. But I wouldn't be too worried about NYU rescending their offer of acceptance...it would take a lot for that to happen.

Indy, is this how you got your gpa to be what it is, by whispering sweet nothings in your counselor's ear? Oh, I kill me!

Mysteree, chup karo! (for you non-hindi speakers, that means, "you are very beautiful"...try it out). Not at all...for that...I went directly to the professors...male or female regardless!

I gotz to do what I gotz to do...just kidding.

Galen1, I wouldn't try making it pass/fail if it is a science course, but if it is some damn common curric class that you have to get out of the way, then fine. Also, if the class is part of your major, they won't let you make it pass/fail.

Indy, bakwas band karo  btw nice translation, you actually made me laugh.
