I thought they accept only 250 students so 400 I am not sure...........

Are they still interviewing?

When do they stop interviewing?

400 are accepted, obviously not everyone who are accepted matriculates. I think almost all schools accept more than they have spots since not everyone will matriculate.

2pac....heres the deal

NYU actually accepts 350+ but not everyone decides to go to NYU...hence they usually have a class size of around 220 or so. I dont know where this 250 number came from. Another example is for most state schools if there class size is 100 people....and they are all in state students...the school will probably have to accept 110-125 students to satisfy the 100 quota. At Indiana, the in state class size is 70...I was told today that so far only 3 in state students have come off the list bringing the total to around 73 acceptances that have gone out total with 3 declining their spot. As for the out of state list, I was #18 on waitlist and I got in which leads me to believe that at least 20 out of state students were admitted before they filled the 30 out of state spots. So if you add 70+3+30+20=123 acceptances and 100 people have filled the class. It took (at least) 123 acceptances to fill IUSD's class of 2009....do you get it now????

that make sense
Does anybody have any inside information about NYU?

They accept people w/o interview, too.

so does UPenn, and a lot of other schools, if the circumstances are right.

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question (cause it probably is to a lot of you) but what do you mean by "if the circumstances are right"? The applicant has unbelievably good grades and DAT scores? They have a legitimate reason why they can't go to the interview?

Thanks :luck:

so NYU accepts people without an interview?
Is this just based on either a very high DAT or very high GPA?

I didn't think NYU do that, they might accept you if you got interviewed the previous year but didn't get in or got on the waitinglist and didn't make it.

But I know for sure Creighton and Marquete accept witout an interview, even to the above two schools, a campus visit will increase your chances of getting in.

BU has a policy that you can be interviewed ONLY once!!

Some of the replies posted here are based on what people hear from others or their own judgements. However, an ideal posting should be backed up with factual information. Doing so, would suppress uneasiness created in the readers mind.

Just a thought.................................

e.g. NYU claims to take students from (September - Mid August), this information is listed on their homepage.

Thanks

Penn accepts without interviews if an applicant has the support of a board of trustees member. That is the only interview-less route I know, dunno about the other avenues.

I know for a fact that Marquette has effectively stopped the campus "visits" (ie voluntary visits by applicants who go to talk to an admission counselor). You wont find that on the Marquette webite unless they updated it recently. When I went up to visit the school (not an interview...voluntary visit) Brian Trecek said word for word that they will no longer allow applicants to come visit and only those invited for a formal interview will be considered for an acceptance. 2pac...I hate to be an ***hole but dude seriously if you want to find out information...call the damn schools...dont rely on people here on SDN. We can give you rumors, things we hear, impressions of schools, tips from insiders (ie students we know who are in dental school), but not cold hard facts (for the most part). We can offer suggestions on ways to beef up your application and study for the DAT, but in terms of how schools select their class we usually have no clue, hence you should call and find out yourself. Make an admission director a friend/acquaintance. Personally, I had 3-4 admission directors on speed dial. It also increases your chances for the interview because they know who calls them and who does not. Dont call too much...but be inquisitive. They are there for a reason.

In terms of NYU...there's at least one person that I know of on this forum (I think its jk5177) who was directly admitted without an interivew...so it does happen and can happen. I have HEARD Creighton is the same way....I know for a fact Marquette used to admit students even if they didnt interview you or if you didnt personally visit voluntarily. That has changed however as of this upcoming cycle. Brian Trecek told me directly...if you want to hear it from his mouth call him (if you arent planning to apply then forget it). If you do not get an interview invite from them you will not have a chance to be accepted. Period. I know about Marquette because 1) I visited the school and 2) I asked Brian questions. The other schools....no clue.

The problem with some of the people on this forum is they dont want to be assertive...even if you ask too many questions to an adcom they arent going to flag your file and reject you...its simply not up to them to do so. If you want to get in badly enough you will ask as many questions as you want answered (within reason). Lastly, I would recommend this to others....if you want to know if you should apply to a certain school call the admission counselor and tell them your rough #'s and ask if you should APPLY (they wont tell you if you will get in or not). Two schools flat out told me not to waste my money, so I didnt. Come on people...lets think here...SDN is a forum for OPINIONS!

So do all the other schools, according to the ADEA guide book.

I agree with you Bullfan116. I believe you didnot understand my comments correctly. I agree SDN is a place to get opinions but donot forget there were people who were lucky enough to get interviews and some not. The people who were successful should help others and provide them with correct information. However, they are certainly not obligated to do so. But it is false from their behalf to spread rumors or incorrect information. Nobody benefits from this kind of action. Face it! maturity is an attribute one should acquire so as to become a medical professional.

Thats all I meant to say earlier-

no hard feelings-

Regards 👍

NYU and BU 👎
If you have other option, go somewhere else. If you are unlucky, study hard and make sure they don't kick you out.
