I remember when I interviewed they said that all acceptances should be out by the end of January. I was wondering if anybody had any more concrete dates? Will it be snail mail, email, both?

That's how the woman made it sound when I called admissions...that they'd be spread out through the end of january.allisonbk said:when you say "starting" does that mean that not all acceptance letters go out on the same day?

you interviewed on the 19th, i interviewed on the 21st. DO you think we are going to hear back soon or is it going to be later on in the season. It will be nice to find out now anyways,
what do you guys think?
WayChanger said:First letters went out today, so people will hear within a day or too, hopefully. More acceptances to go out until the end of the month.
WayChanger said:Yeah, I just called. They'll probably start to recognize my voice soon. =P The lady said the first letters went out today. Also, they're not being sent according to when you interviewed - it's somewhat random, depending on the order in which the dean approves them. So through the end of the month.

anyways. she said the guy admitted they don't know what they're doing and wouldn't be surprised if they find out later on that they don't have enough ppl to fill their class and start interviewing ppl again.
i don't know how authentic this account is, but thought at the time how disorganized and unprofessional of the nyu admissions office this was. my app is probably one of the ones that got thrown out!
FaytlND said:This is inaccurate. I am an M1 at NYU, and my calss was the first to use AMCAS. Last year they did get a lot of apps, and the process took them much longer than they initially expected. I believe they were still interviewing into March, with a lot of late acceptances going out. This year, they got all of the interviews done prior to their break for Christmas, and all acceptances are ging out starting this week, but its not going to be dragged out over a long period. I think they want to have them all mailed by the end of the month.
However, they did see even more applications this year, and so they did institute an MCAT cut off. I heard it was around 32-33, but I cannot be completely sure as to what the exact number was. So bottom line, no ones apps just got thrown out without being looked at.
nopeUCdannyLA said:Well I got an interview with a 32...so maybe the cut off is 32...? eh...
I'm expecting a rejection anyways. Or waitlist...what's the difference.
temmie said:nope
got interviewed with a 30. so now what?
UCdannyLA said:so acceptances go out in january and rejections/waitlists go out in february, yeah?
bgreet said:Nothing in the mail today :/
sharpnerd00 said:does anyone know what percentage of interviewed applicants are going to be accepted? thanks!
Will Ferrell said:Pre-AMCAS around half got accepted...
golftrippy said:I wouldn't worry--doesn't look like anybody got anything in the mail today...probably tomorrow first day.
I wouldn't count on this staying the same. As i mentioned, last year was the first year with AMCAS, and I think the fact that acceptances went out late, as well as not having experience with the system, resulted in a lot more people being accepted (including off the waitlist) than they would have liked. The fact that they have streamlined the process a bit more this year, and have gotten acceptances out early, is probably just a few ways to cut down the acceptance rate. I wouldn't be surprised to see it at somewhere below 1/3.allisonbk said:i have heard that the number is around 50% as well. but this number includes acceptances off the waitlist, right?
