Nothing from NYU in the mail today....

how many people have NYU interviewed this year?? it has to be way lower than other schools, because first of all they sent their secondaries late(and as password-access only), and then they stopped interviewing mid-december. so out of the people who interviewed, the percentage for acceptance should be a little higher than other schools, unless their class size is significantly smaller.

Yeah, I wish they just emailed too......and, it's weird that no one's heard since they started mailing at the beginning of the week.

I think the word on the street is that the first letters went out on Wednesday... my guess is that some people will hear tomorrow.

So I got home yesterday and went straight to the mail box.
I open it and there are tons of letters.
It was dark and cold out and I was there trying to look for one that said NYU.
Nothing.
Oh well...I guess I still have to wait.

dang....I'm not expecting to hear for a little while because I just have random feeling that I'm waitlisted, and I interviewed later (which I guess they said doesn't matter), but, I just don't think I'm at the top of their list of people to accept. It'd be nice to know that people are hearing back so that they can make their way to me 🙂, and put me out of my misery.

i actually called them on wednessday and they said they already mailed some out. So i am thinking that maybe the mail truck carrying it from NYU broke down and could not get it to the office till the next day. Good luck to us all. I dont know about you guys but that's the only explanation that i can come up with

I have a few good inside contacts and from what I hear, it really is the very end of the month. I think they're confused down there because if they had sent out letters on Wed. at least ONE person would have posted about hearing by now.

I'm fully aware the NYU's notification period is from mid-January until the end of the month, and they're entitled to wait till the end, but I'm really puzzled why they would say that some of them had been sent out on Wednesday if that wasn't really the case. Strangeness...

A similar thing happened with AECOM. They said they sent out letters such-and-such date and 2-3 days later people posted about their responses. absolutely NO one has said anything about hearing from NYU yet. very strange indeed. unless people that heard are not SDN active people.

Haha...well...the SDN regulars are the more...well, anal premeds, and I rather refuse to believe that SDN could ever fail to be the first source of premed news. =)

Well.....this all prompted me to take a look at the folder they gave at the interview again.

It says:
"All letters of acceptance will be sent out by January 31, 2006. Notification about wait list and rejection status will be sent out in mid-February."

This is true, but on the website, it says that they will be sent out "on or about" January 15th. Plus the admissions people have given out similar answers on the phone. Hence the confusion.

I don't know if this will help everyone else, but I received a confirmation letter asking for my $100 deposit yesterday, so the office has definitely started sending out something.

I applied to the SOM through NYU's early decision program for NYU undergraduates so I've known about my acceptance for a bit now, but this is the first I've heard from the school in about 6 months.

I hope the letters start going out soon. I'm DYING to know who's going to be attending with me! Good luck everyone!
