Does anybody know when NYU starts accepting. I have an interview, but due to scheduling problems I can't go until January. I wonder if I'm shooting myself in the foot by going so late.

I had the same problem, but I was advised by a Project Associate in the Admissions office that it's definitely better to schedule an early interview because they run on a rolling basis. For me, the interview was laid back and I only had less than a week notice. So if you can wing it, then it may be better than going in January.

I received a notice that they will start accepting on Jan 15, but MSAR states Dec 15.

They send out a few acceptances in Jan 15th and the bulk of them in Feb 15th.

Okay. I may try to reschedule. Thanks all.

I've been complete for eons and still no word.

Anyone know when they send their first rejection letter? Is there still hope?

I KNOW for a fact that NYU has rolling admissions, despite what they tell you during the interview (I know some members of the admissions commitee). They will usually get back to you 1 month after the interview. Hope this helps! 🙂

Yeah, I think this is correct. If you look at last year's acceptance list on sdn (use the search function), many people were accepted by mid-December. So even though they say that acceptances/waitlists/rejections go out officially starting Jan. 15th, it appears that the early interviewees may know earlier than that.

Ah, well in the packet they gave us, it said Jan 15th a few are sent while the bulk of them are sent in Feb 15th. I hope I hear good news from them in December then 😉.

On their app instructions online, it says that final decisions on apps aren't made till March or April. So I'm guessing they don't send rejection letters until their interview cycle is over???

Ok, so I too was told by the guy who schedules interviews that I should get interviewed before the end of the year since the committee gets together at the end of this month or early next month.
Now I had an interview at NYU tomorrow, but missed the flight today and it's just not possible to get to New York City in time for the interview in the morning from the West Coast. Not withstanding how pissed they are going to be that I cancelled on them at absolutely the last minute, if I do reschedule for January, does anybody have any idea how screwed I'll be?

Phe, don't sweat it--I'm assuming when you cancelled, you told them why. I missed a flight to one of my interviews and have since been invited back for a second look.

NYU is rolling admissions, so you will have hurt your chances, but in my experience NYU is a pretty friendly school. If you're interviewing with people with really really ridiculously long titles after their names, chances are they have experience with the problems of travel and travelling on-time.

FYI - a friend got an email acceptance from NYU today - he interviewed less than two weeks ago. i interviewed in mid-november, and no word :0

hey is there a secondary application for NYU? i sent in the primary application a month ago and still no word. 🙁

Patience my little grasshopper, word will come sometime. Luckily, there is no secondary for NYU........the primary was pain enough to finish 😀

no secondary for NYU. you're done! at least for now...

just got the email about an hour ago. MY FIRST ACCEPTANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If U. of Wash doesn't want me, then at least I know i'll be going to a great school!!! I'm so freakin' happy. I hope many of you will receive a similar Christmas present.

So if they're going to make most of their acceptances by Feb 15th, can us August MCATers pretty much kiss our chances goodbye? They have not contacted me since they sent back my self-addressed postcard. 🙁 I was seriously considering going there if I got in there...though I guess I could say that about every med school I sent an application fee...

Yeah, I'm confused as to why I didn't get an interview at NYU. I spent alot of time converting AMCAS to something that they could accept, they interview about a third of applicants, and accept about 15%.... I have interviews at so-called better schools that I'm less interested in, but nothing from them. Are they just notoriously slow or are my chances pretty slim now?

ditto.

i've been complete since august... well, actually, they lost my rec letters and transcript, so it wasn't actually complete till october... but still... no word... 🙁

Same here kwanny...should have been complete in August...lost my transcripts...officially complete in early October...and NOTHING!!! Guess I'll just keep waiting...

I interviewed there way back when, and have to hear anything back, so I'm in no better position than y'all. With each passing day, I feel the bitchslap of a rejection/waitlist come closer and closer. I actually wish that I'd have saved the money flying to NYC than shelling out big bucks for the overnight and flight arrangements and then being rejected. 🙁

I do know that they interview into Feb, so you may hear from them yet. Hopefully the interview will produce better results for you than it has for me. 😎

Yo, same here. I wish NYU would show me some love, but I don't think they will at this point. Been complete since August.

Brush off that shoulder bro, it looks like you're tearing up the acceptances as it is. I'm sure MSSM will realize their mistake eventually, and hopefully NYU will for the both us. Best of luck man,

hey y'all,

don't feel too discouraged. i may have been really lucky with NYU but i'm just about in the same boat with my other applications.

one acceptance, several rejections, couple of interviews, and plenty of waiting. stay hopeful and strong...

Thanks Flash.

I know, I'm very lucky as is. I work for Sinai which is why I was kinda of bothered by their decision. And NYU is my alma mater. Anyhoo, I'm happy with the acceptances I have.

P.S. No interview invite from Columbia yet and I don't think I'm going to get one. Damn I should have mentioned in my app that I could play Chopin in a B Fart Major.
