I'll be attending NYU this fall and my wife (and 4 boys) and I are looking to buy a 3-bedroom condo to live in.

The ones we've liked and can afford are on Staten Island. I was just wondering if the daily commute to NYU is do-able from S.I.

I currently commute about 1 hour each way with my current job, and would like to keep the commute not too much more than that.

Are there any NYU students out there with advice?

I think there are express buses from staten island that go right to where the school is, which prob take about and hour and cost $5 each way, but the nice thing is u can study/sleep on that bus. It depends on where on staten island. There is a website called hopstop.com where you can enter addresses and they let u know different ways of commuting there via bus/train.
Since class starts at 8am, try to find the closest possible place to live. Queens is a good option as well. good luck!

theres also the ferry (free) if you're going to live anywhere near St. George on SI...the ride is like around 25 minutes and takes you into lower manhattan then you'd have to take a subway to get up near nyu...just not sure how close the subway stop is to the denatl school...
