Ok, this is not just my opinion but rather the unanimous consensus of all NYU housing students: we hate it. Why?

1) more expensive than if you wanted to find your own apartment
2) they make you move out during finals. What the f#####k? of course you can prolong your stay for 250 dollars/week
3) I was lucky but a lot of students were put together with weirdoes from the arts programs or philosophy, etc
4) a billion more complications that I am too hurt to even talk about.

Please listen to me: even if you've made a payment, it's not worth going for it. Please!

My thoughts as someone living in NYU first-year housing:

1) Cheaper than living in the same units without going through NYU (I live in Stuy Town). Sure, there's cheaper to be had but without having to pay a ridiculous fee or have a guarantor making 70x monthly rent this was the best option for me my first year.

2) Sure, we're the "extra" students at NYU as far as housing is concerned and I've been very unhappy with how we've been treated. But summer housing is 900 bucks a month and you don't HAVE to move out before finals -- only if you choose not to do summer housing. But I'm doing summer housing and I have until August 9th to find a permanent place for next year.

3) My roommate sucks. But that's what you get with any dorm at any school at any level.

4) It's not ideal nor is it what I thought I was signing up for but NYU housing isn't that bad of a deal. It's not great, but if you're coming from out of town and don't want to go through the hastle of figuring out the New York housing market sub-culture, going through housing is a good option.

Just my opinion. Nothing is unanimous.

I am going to NYU in August and I live in NY- LI. I am not sure if I should get housing or an apartment. I would much rather have my own apartment, but I would like a roommate. The problem is that I don't know anyone. Any suggestions?

Hey guys. About NYU, is it really as easy to get in as I hear? How is the school over all?

1 - How much are you paying? And how much would it have been if you went without NYu to live in teh same place?
2 - Do you share a room?
3 - What ended up being unexpected?
