NYU Housing / Roommate

Hey there,

I'm just looking to see if anyone else is going to live in the dorms at NYU the first year. I'm looking for a roommmate for the 26th street apartments or some other nyu housing. also, if anyone else has any info on how to start the housing process, that'd be awesome. thanks!

craecrae, I think NYU will send us an application package with housing information following our 2nd deposit. As for roommates, I'm sure they can assign you one. What kind of room are you looking for? Two bedroom?

haha. i just read that on their site as soon as i posted. i'm looking for 2 bedroom 2 person apartment probably.

They don't give those things away... have you seen the prices?

Dorms are the way to go though for the first year. Anyone know how hard it is to get in one of your top choices?

I thought there was only 1 dorm you could live in as a first year? Are there multiple?

I think there's three complexes... but I could be wrong. The website is pretty vague.

im considering finding an apt.

ive looked around the area and the costs for rent are basically the same for an apt and the dorms..i initially thought the living in an apt would be great...but for the first year it may be better to live in the dorms with ur classmates....if your going to live in that area and look for an apt check out murray hill and kips bay listings....young and good area

If I attend NYU, I will be searching for an apartment. The only real pro I see about living in the dorms is that a lot of other students will be there as well. As nice as it would be to live in close proximity with classmates, I do not want to deal with all the hassles and constraints of dorm life. Check-ins, fire drills, and all the other stuff...I've been through it before, I don't want to go through it again.

I think sharing an apartment with someone is the route I am going to take.
Anyone else feel this way? Anyone perhaps interested?
