I just got a call from NYU, and I will be interviewing there on Dec 6! :heckyeah:

I have been told that as a part of the interview, I will be writing an essay. Does anyone have any experience with this in interviews and would like to share some advice?

My stats:

Undergrad: University of Colorado
Major: Integrative Physiology (Certificate in Neuroscience)
GPA: 3.2 (3.15 PTCAS)
GRE: V - 163, Q - 161, A - 5
PT Experience: 230 outpatient, 15 inpatient, 42 skilled nursing
Extra-curriculars: Returned Peace Corps volunteer, ESL teacher, opera singer, volunteer at a cycling advocacy non-profit

Hey I got a call for an Interview as well, I have to call tomorrow because I got it late with a voicemail but from what Ive seen researching around is that apparently its a 10 minute timed essay. I would assume they just want to see how well you perform under pressure and possibly to see just how good you really are at writing essays. Good luck to you and maybe we will interview the same day!

Congrats! I got a call for an interview too! Due to a conflict, I had to push it back until January. Good luck with the interview!! I would appreciate any tips you could give about the essay after you interview.

How early did you guys apply? I'm looking at the PTCAS thing right now and it said that the deadline is December 2, and there's no rolling admissions. I was thinking of submitting my application later, because I was waiting for my GRE grade to come back.Am I already too late?

I'm pretty sure it is rolling admission actually all the schools I applied to were rolling. I applied back in the first month that the apps were available.

According to PTCAS, it's not rolling admissions. NYU does, however, have this note on a pdf summarizing admissions to the program:

"A note regarding rolling admission and Early Review. We understand the complexities involved in applying to our DPT program and (often) relocating to New York City. Because of this, we encourage early applications. If you submit a completed application, for example, by October 1 for Summer, it will be forwarded to the Admissions Committee for Early Review, and you may be invited in for an early interview with members of the Committee. Thus, some early candidates may receive their admission decision before the December 1 deadline. We do this as a service to our applicants, who apply from around the globe. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity for Early Review."

🙂 I also got an interview! Got the voicemail today late, so I will be calling back tomorrow to figure out a date! Good luck to everyone!

Any updates on how those NYU interviews went? I have mine in January and am a little curious as to what to expect.

Thanks in advance and congrats to everyone who have received interviews/acceptances!

hey everyone,
I interviewed on Jan 24th. Does anybody know when we should be hearing back?

There isn't really a timeline unfortunately. You interview on the 24th or you already interviewed in the future? haha

For those that are still waiting to hear back from NYU, I think I might have an idea of what's going on:

It seems that those that got their acceptance have until February 14th to give an answer and when I called the department I was told the answers would come mid February.

This makes me think that NYU picked their first batch of candidates and are waiting to hear back from them to offer a few others a spot in mid-February?

Thoughts?

That makes a lot of sense. Hopefully there are a decent amount of spots available at that time!! Great info thank you.

That definitely makes sense. I assume they are also waiting to see candidate academic updates.

I called and talked to them they made it seem like they hadn't made any decisions yet and would let everyone know in February. Also while I was there for the interview most of the students said it took awhile to hear back because of finals and holidays and etc

Just kidding as I see another thread about a girl talking about her acceptance

I received a rejection about two weeks ago (I interview on Dec 7). So they're still holding on to your application for possible admission im guessing 🙂
