Wahoo! Interview went really well, flew up from florida and interviewed and apparently im accepted? Thats what the man said heh, then again he was old, and possible senial...but hey, im fine with being accepted on the spot...anyone else interview here? Its an awesome school and my first choice (yeah I have a huge ego) though I interview at Columbia in a week...
Keep you updated, just felt like bragging...
Doug

Congrats, poetikfuzion

I interviewed there too, just love their sim labs.

It's totally awesome that he would accept you on the spot....thatz just awesome man

Only thing I don't like is the $300,000+ price tag the financial lady claim you'll need to borrow.

dr. weisman or something right? I had the same guy with the same results....i'm praying he's not just a senile old man:laugh: He was so hard on me at first, but totally turned it around when he told me that I was in.

hey poetikfuzion, way to go man! I mean it.

to Poetikfuzion:

Congratulations, and welcome to my home town! NYUCD is definitely the place to be if you want a lot of clinical exposure, with the biggest patient pool of any school in the country.

Well done!

Great news!

Ps theres nothing wrong with bragging, especially if you've earned it.😀

I don't mean to damper on your parade, but if it is so easy to get into the school, what does that tell you about the school?

Also, don't expect too much personal attention/help in a class size of 235.

At least for me, the money seems outrageous to me. Are people buying their way into dental school by going to NYU or something

I agree.

Class size matters. Tuition matters.

Relax guy,

NYU was his 1st choice. It may not be yours, but he has repeately said he would love to get into NYU, so I'm happy for him.

Yes, but so do many other things, like location, patient pool, quality of clinical education etc. etc. Thats one of the reasons dental schools are not ranked, many different factors go into each individual's choice of where they wish to go to school.

And I dont understand why people have to put down other dental schools. Everybody knows of NYU's drawbacks, but why harp on them. The only reason I could see myself trashing a school is if I had a bad experience with them (as in they did somehting bad to me) or I knew of unpleasent information that came up that I felt everyone should know about.

Sorry had to rant for a second, and this isnt directed specifically at you 007

When you've graduated and are looking for a position as an associate, every dentist I talk to doesn't care what your GPA or what your board scores are. The number one thing they look at is your personality. Yes, of course you need to be competent in what you do, but I believe the only thing that dictates your competency is yourself....not the school. The school can drill it in your head how wide your occlusal rims should be (sorry, just got out of prostho lab), but unless you practice and practice it yourself, you're not gonna get it.

Bottom line is, choose a school that is good for you. Being rude and bashing a school when a person gets accepted to it is tactless and non-professional. It's all personal opinion. Some people can't handle living in a big city. At NYU, we may not get the personal attention in lecture halls, but we get it in our labs (especially 2nd year)...which is where it matters most. Every lab I've been in has a 1:10 student/facutly ratio. The only bad thing about this school is the tuition. Well, I guess the 1st year lab instructors too..(some of them need to retire). Oh, and also dealin w/ all the Yankee fans...lol

and a sidenote:
People may not admit it, but there is a lot of interest in this forum in NYU. Every thread that has NYU in the subject all have at least 300 views....

Not to mention the Mets, Rangers, Jets, Knicks, and Giants. They all suck(ed) this year.

Good job poetikfuzion! What a load off. Just out of curiosity, what made NYU your #1? I applied there also (not yet invited for interview b/c no DAT's yet) and am curious to what you saw in the program.

Don't let these other guys get you down. Its quite an accomplishment getting into any dental school.

NYU only accepts ~30% of applicants so you do not buy your way in. Its a great accomplishment to get in here.

And Gavin, Arizona is not a 4% acceptance rate. Are you trying to tell me they only accept 54 students out of 1600??? I don't think so. I bet your school accepted last year atleast 150 students. I maybe wrong but i sure know they accepted more than 54. Don't get me wrong, your school may be more competitive than NYU, but that doesn't make it great.

congratulations man!

very happy for ya. hope we all have similar news on DEC 1st!

congratz, I think that it doesn't really matter if a school you get into is your first choice or second, I think (not that I would know yet....waiting for Dec 1st) that every acceptance letter you get should make you feel like you're on top of the world....I know (I wish) that I would feel like I'm in heaven and it wouldn't matter to me if that school was my first choice or not, just the fact that you got in means a lot! again, good job, you're obviously highly qualified

It seems like everyone and their mamas get interview to NYU and Columbia. How hard is it exactly yo get interview. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought columbia only interview like 300 or so applicants. And also is it true that they accept 80% of their class with applicants who interview before december??
