NYU is taking forever and a day to get back to me on my application. Its been under review by the adcoms for about 2 months now...jeez
oh yeah, it feels good to be back!
A woman in admissions told me they are accepting a bunch of people this year without interviews. She said it was the first time they were doing something like this...
So I asked her if I could stop by and tour the school while I was in the city anyway. She said no... that only people with interviews could take a tour.
Seems like a catch 22 😕
This is what I think: I bet they got swamped with applications this year (like most other schools) and don't have the resources to interview all the worthy candidates, especially considering that most people use NYU as a backup school. Now, what kind of student is going to go to a school they've never seen? Not too many. That's why I think they're going to accept all those students who have excellent qualifications but who they doubt will actually attend. That way they won't waste precious interview slots.
Let's just hope that for those who are accepted in that manner, they will make an effort to offer a tour of the school before we have to decide.
