I think this is honesty pretty simple. If you’re certain on your specialty, NYU. If not, stony brook. $228,000 is a reasonable amount of loans for any physician to pay off. Don’t shut the door on your dreams because of that money.

But go shadow lots of specialties and talk to mentors, and if you’re certain, take that money and run bro

Unrelated, but sick username

I go to Stony Brook and while I have great things to say about the school, none of them are worth a price tag of $228k if you can pay $0. It’s as simple as that.

I completely understand if you don’t know what specialty you want to do. I don’t know yet and I don’t think I’ll know for a while. Nonetheless, you said you have the option to switch tracks or even enter the match. The extra year of your life and the saved tuition makes NYU the clear winner.

I don’t think you mentioned it in your post but which track did you get accepted into? If it’s IM or Gen Surg then that leaves a ton of doors open for fellowships to make a decision later on
