NYU Rejection

It sucks because it was one of my first choices.. ah well, at least I'll be in school somewhere.. some people can't even say that
Im in for this one.... Haven't heard from them in months and I got my pink slip today... I thought I was going to get an acceptance w/o interview, but instead I got a rejection w/o interview.. lol..

got my nyu rejection today.

Well, its above NYUs average.... I was surprised to have been rejected without even at least interviewing me.. Maybe they didnt like my face, oh wait, they never even gave me a chance to see it...

why did they have to change things now??? it's really frustrating. esp because a lot of people kept on saying that there was no such thing as a backup school and that nyu shouldn't have its bad reputation. Now that those people have gotten in elsewhere, NYU is back as a backup for them. And then, there are people who really wholeheartedly have NYU as their top pick and don't get in.
P.S. I'm not angry or upset at anyone other than myself. Just wanted to clear that up.
you had an interview and got rejected. It's really unprecedented. NYU is famous for sending rejection letter in late april.

When I interviewed there the students mentioned there was someone new running the show and so they didn't know if acceptance w/o interview would happen this year. It looks like it did on a much smaller scale.
I just feel bad for many qualified applicants who didn't get a chance who really want to go to NYU. I guess the process has gotten a bit more random.

I thought my rejection letter from UPenn was much nicer than the one I got from NYU. What a pain!

Yes. But I didn't apply NYU last year..
i didn't send any thank you card cuz i forgot the name of my interviewer. ha! my interview was in november. anywho it's pretty depressing even though i tell myself that everything happens for a reason. maybe this rejection prevented a future thug from robbing me at gunpoint or taxi running me down or etc...keep thinking positively people! 👍
Brian, poor guy must get SO many e-mails and phone calls. Good luck to both of us when it comes to Temple.
i dont get it. it seems that NYU rejected "way too qualified for NYU" applicants. i wonder when my rejection will come.
I think NYU might be suffering from a little "Tufts Syndrome."

From what I've heard when I was in HS, Tufts is a school for ivy rejects, those who can't get into an ivy league. Because of this, Tufts has instituted some type of policy (don't know what that policy is) so that they could get more students that actually want to go to Tufts.
tufts undergrad is a great school. it has a strong liberal arts program, but more surprisingly a great engineering school as well!
honestly in terms of quality i'd rank tufts ahead of a large number of the ivys (over cornell, brown, upenn, etc). it is known as a "safety school" for those that don't get into harvard, but it does provide a great education and further opportunities.
*i am an ivy grad, but took summer chemistry at tufts for post-bacc prereqs. the professor i had was amazing! this was my first post-bacc class and it helped me start off on the right foot.
**i don't think tufts dental suffers at all from being considered a "safety school". hah, i don't think such a school exists for dentistry!

Tufts is now considered a "New Ivy" - one of 25 schools to be deemed as such.

I think so... I read in another post that someone new is running the show there.. I called just out of my own curiosity to ask why I was rejected, they didnt even have an answer other than "you didnt even receive an interview??"
So you can call them to ask "Why'd you reject me?!?!!?". Hmmm...maybe I should do that cuz the freakin' yield protection policy has screwed me over! I actually wanted to go to NYU!!!!!!! Pfff
