In NYU dental school, do you have to take Gross anatomy or just Head and Neck anatomy?

The class is called "Head and Neck Anatomy" but you pretty much still do the entire body. A lot of time is spent on head and neck but you also do the thorax, abdomen, and the limbs.

The students are taught using plastinates. You study from them in lab and it's actually an easier way to learn. They are neatly dissected for you already and it's just a cleaner and easier way to learn.

Thanks! Do you guys have to know all the anatomy of the organs too?

No not really....a little here and there, but mostly it's all the bones, all the little grooves and pretty much everything on all the bones, and LOTS AND LOTS of nerves, arteries and veins. The class really puts a lot of emphasis on all the nerves and their branches and branches of branches etc...

The class does go into a lot of detail but you need to know it all for the boards anyway.

You will learn about the organs in detail in the second semester, not in Anatomy.

So I eventually have to learn the organs?

What year are you in NYUCD?
And thanks for all your input so far!

the organs u take in a class called organ systems, then you take the pathology 2nd yr in a fun class called system pathology.
