Lol Buffalo is one of the more unsafe cities in the country as well, but even Buffalo's campus isn't as bad as that of Temple's. I say Temple is legit because throughout the whole country, there is a decline in the # of available patients overall for dental students. Things aren't as good as they were a few years back when students didn't really have much problems graduating on time. You end up with a lot of empty clinic sessions because of no-shows or you just don't have enough patients, and that could be pretty detrimental and stressful for the last year of d-school when you're scrambling and trying to graduate + taking board exams. Temple is one of the few blessed schools in the country to have a huge patient pool where you don't quite have to worry about that yet.
Buffalo is great because you just can't beat that tuition. It's got everything you need, but it's certainly not fancy schmancy like NYU's facilities, but pretty facilities don't train good dentists, good student:faculty ratio, good studying environments do. Buffalo has just that. Obviously neither places are like NYC, but you'll be in a tight knit group of people you'll spend a lot of time with, and there aren't really many opportunities to be partying day and night anyway.
More specific stuff... I haven't heard the greatest things about Temple's didactics, but clinically, you're gonna be worked good. Buffalo is very strong in prosth. They perform high in the prosth section annually and it shouldn't be taken lightly, cause prosth education in d-school is super watered down, most schools don't even use some of the classic prosth textbooks anymore. Being good at prosth can make you a much better GP in the long run.
If I were you, I'd pick either Temple or Buffalo. NYU can't compare with either, to be honest. Good luck with your decisions.
