Hello Folks..
I am an International Dentist accepted to both NYU and TEMPLE. Both schools offer 3 years of course and almost the same tuition for Internationals. I need a serious opinion from you guys as to what school would you choose and why? From what I have searched in this forum I am sure that both have good clinical exposure, but what is it that makes you select one school over the other? And to the down side of Temple is the location but same is the case with NYU, since If you want to rent an affordable apartment while studying at NYU, you might end-up living in Jersey City and commute to the school would be 45mins-1 hour one way.!!! Not to forget the 1 mile walk one way.
So both are kind of same in that case. Its pretty confusing for me to decide between the two, I dont know which school is superior in other aspects so Please Help.🙂
Thanks bing12. I might choose Temple now. 👍
Hey, NYU started inviting internationals from the first week this month. Hope for the best. Last year there were interviews till march 10th so don't loose hope. I have talked to my friends at NYU, regarding clinical exposure both are almost same also Temple has higher clinical requirements than NYU. I live in Jersey City and I know how life here is. Just wanted to know If I choose Temple is it going to be better than NYU. Students at Temple had no issues with the area because the subway station is in the same block and parking garage are few blocks from school. Again I have a lot of information about NYU, all i can say that if you plan to stay in JC and commute it would be a headache.!!
Great, Congrats with your acceptance at Temple, may I know were your IV batch? Wish you Good Luck for NYU. Yes you are correct it depends on person to person.
In case of Temple, IMHO most of the Internationals go by herd mentality and thus end-up leaving it, obviously no body wants to take risk when lot of people are taking of the bad location. I cant understand that why would the location be a problem when public transportation is right at the corner of the block and lots of car parking garages nearby??? I would rather choose to live in a good area and be cautious while walking down the street which is again just few blocks to school also in working hours than having to live in JC and walk from Journal Square path station to the apartment in off-working hours. Not to mention the agony of walking 1.5 miles one way daily to reach school. I respect personal opinions of others but I shall go by some good facts only. For me I think Temple is a better choice and for no reason I travelled across the globe leaving my lovely parents back in my home country just to live in area like JC!!! Ofcourse I lived here for 5 months but its about time now.
While you work as a Dentist your office staff would be @ 10, so i better get use to making friends with less people..🙂
Ultimately In my case it makes no sense now to leave Temple and choose NYU.👍
