I know this question has been asked over and over again but i need more opinions.

I am a NY resident who was accepted to NYU and TUFTS. I want to know what you guys think about both schools and what is a better choice for me. What do you think?

I'm debating the same exact thing, except I'm not from either state.

isnt Tufts total cost 90K per year? and NYU is 104K per year( this info is from the interview, I believe it is 104K). most people go with the cheaper school, and over 4 years, it would be about 50-60K cheaper if you went to Tufts I believe.

50k is a pretty huge deal.

The only reason why I could ever imagine going to NYU over Tufts is cause
A.) You hate Boston
B.) You hate cadavers and want a plastic gross anatomy lab.

Also, I'm not sure about NYU but I know that Tufts does block testing and that might not sit well with some people.

Other than that, I would pick Tufts over NYU cause of the 50k saved.

One weird thing is that for the total cost of education for these two schools,

NYU: http://www.nyu.edu/dental/financialservices/tuitionfeesexpensesdds.html

Tufts: http://dental.tufts.edu/1206352803734/TUSDM-Page-dental2w_1186496760474.html

If you take a look, Tufts did not break it down to the Personal expenses + Transportation + Loan fees (interest).

Most schools broke down this portion just like NYU, but Tufts just offers $20,000 a year which is ~$1,660/month (for first year). Downtown boston living expense is much more than that..

NYU Room and board (1st year) is $26,700 which gives $2,225/month (JUST for room and board!)
and additional $6,727/year ($560/month) for personal expenses+transportation+loan fees.

Tufts did state: "Currently the living expense allowance is $1,550 per month for students living in the dorm, $2,000 per month for students living off-campus or $900 per month for students living with their parents or relatives."

Don't you guys think it will actually cost more than what is listed on there???? (for Tufts)

I dont mean to be rude but Im a little annoyed by all of this cost statistic as a basis of quality of a school. This is an investment and no matter which school you go to (NYU or TUFTS) your are leaving with a substantial debt (unless of course your paying for it). Please lets refrain from judging a school on its cost in this case since the numbers are pretty similar. I posted this thread to get opinions on the educational quality of the school as well as the dental experience gained from both schools. Thanks 🙂

I would go to Tufts. Cheaper, Boston, and smaller class size.

I'm going with Tufts, unless at my NYU interview on Monday something really magical happens. And this is from someone living 25 minutes away from NYU.
