I have narrowed my decision to these two schools, what do you all think?

Mr. Z,
What do you think is the best single aspect of each school?

nyu is about 230 while tufts is about 160, so both big classes. haven't been to tufts yet, but i was pleasantly surprised by nyu. it gets such a bad name on this forum, but i feel they have some good opportunities for their students. and nyc is amazing, but so is boston...two different flavors. i'll vote after i get back from tufts.
keep in mind the additional 100 international students that will join the NYU class during second year. so NYU is more like...340 student. thats about double Tuft. I hear pretty good things about both schools, but i would choose tuft because it has a smaller class size and slightly smaller price tag.

3.3......is that ur gpa or wat those two schools require?
It is my GPA. What is that supposed to mean?

Not having personal experience at either school, but having recently discussed Tufts with a former graduate, I heard something that impressed me. He said he went to undergrad at Rutgers. He felt he got no respect. But, he did his medical training at Tufts. He said it was like a 180 degree turn. He said the pre-doctoral students there were revered, higher up than the doctors. Tufts respects it's students. This gentleman is active at Tufts today. Those words impressed me, although I can't vouch for recent grads today. They would have to offer you their opinion.
Good luck with your decision.
NYU - Location, perfect placement in NYC
Tufts - Smaller class size than NYU, better reputation?
I had the same decision to make, I choose NYU, going to NYU class of 2011!!
Reasons why I choose NYU over Tufts:
1. NYC
2. faculty vs. student ratio
3. newest anatomy learning method
4. all lectures typed out as a service
5. better technology (tufts have 3-4 groups of student sharing dentSim chairs, that means each chair have 3-4 students assigned to it) NYU only has 2 different groups. NYU has higher chairs to student ratio
6. Better Facility
7. Much more diverse patient pool and much larger patient pool as well
8. NYU has so many opportunities that tufts can't offer - Dental Van, community outreach, more research, especially clinical research, invisalign training, etc...
Comparisons of reputation is difficult to do for both schools. I'm sure that NYU is a very recognizable name, nationally and internationally. However, for Tufts, I'm not so sure. Tufts undergrad has always been known as a school for people who can't get into an Ivy, hence the name "Tufts syndrome" (essentially, Tufts intentionally chooses lower quality applicants who would love to go to Tufts, and reject applicants with higher stats who use the school as a backup). However, Tufts undergrad is slightly better than NYU (usnews.com)
In terms of rankings, the 1992 Gourmand report (no longer valid) places Tufts at #8 and NYU at #9. USNews places NYU medical school at #32 and Tufts at #42. NYU business is #13 and NYU Law is #4, while Tufts is nowhere to be seen.
A couple of things.....Don't quote the 1992 Gourman Report even if you state that it's no longer valid because it was 15 years ago. Were you the same person that you are today 15 years ago? Also, concerning reputation of the two schools. NYU and Tufts are nationally known for different things, but for DENTAL SCHOOL, there is nobody that considers NYU a more prestigeous DENTAL SCHOOL than Tufts. The dental community knows dental schools and there is no comparison when it comes to reputation. Medical school is a different thing entirely. It is hard to get into either medical school, but harder to get into NYU. As far as Dental school is concerned, I know people that got into NYU without even interviewing a few years ago, what does that say about it's reputation.
Any NYU students out there who are willing to comment?
