Ok. So I've been accepted at NYU already but I'm kind of concerned about the tuition and living arrangements in the big city (I have a wife and a child). I have lived in the city for 2 years before and my wife loves NYC so it really isn't the atmosphere that makes me uncomfortable. Anyways, I have an interview from Tufts on the table that I can't decide if I should go to. The tuition is a good 10-15 thousand cheaper I think but I don't have a clue about the living expenses there. Plus, I've never been to Boston.
SO, SHOULD I GO TO AN INTERVIEW AT TUFTS?

I've never been to Boston, either. But, I think living expenses at Tufts would be a bit lower. I think you should definitely go for the interview. However, since you have a family, I'm not sure how comfortable they will feel about moving to another city. Both, Tufts and Boston, are great places!

If you love your wife, make it easy for her and stick with NYU. And cancel your interview at Tufts so other people can have a chance.

Actually I don't think living expenses will be significantly cheaper in Boston, as Boston is quite an expensive city as well.

Dental2012, why do you say that staying in NY would be easier for the wife? Because of what I said or because your more interested in the spot opening. I'm not trying to come off as being a jerk....I just want something a little more descriptive than what you offered. Thanks.

You are lucky you got in somewhere with your stats (no offense). Are dental schools on crack???? You shouldn't even be posting anything here because you are such a jerk which I gathered from your posts. Dont reply to this post.

Pot. Kettle. Black.

I can't hurt to go check out Tufts. I interviewed there last year in Feb. and was very impressed. The only small problem for you is that since you're interviewing in late Jan/ early Feb you may end up interviewing for a spot on the waitlist. We were basically told that last year and my interview was the 2nd week of Feb.

But go check it out, you may be pleasantly surprised. Plus, you never know what school is going to accept you and give you a scholarship. Tufts may end up being much cheaper than NYU for you if they give you $$.

An interview this late, you are probably interviewing for a spot on the waitlist.

If you are at all interested at the prospect of attending Tufts, then go to the interview. You'll get more info on costs, the curriculum, and the city of Boston. That can only make a future decision easier.

If you get accepted, take what you learned about the schools and make this decision with your wife. That can only make the next 4 years of your life easier!

P.S. I am not gunning for either of your seats at these schools. 🙂

I think you should at least check out Tufts, and see if you like it. Who knows it might be the better fit for you. I can't believe dental2012 got so touchy about one of your previous posts. Anyway I was accepted at NYU but i think I will be turning down that spot so as to free up a spot for someone else...

Not with Tufts. They are just hitting high gear now. All initial acceptances from state schools have been given. The people that are left now are people who are looking primarily at private schools for salvation.

And no it is not too late either. It is just couple of months after December 1st. People do get acceptances well into spring. After February then you can definitely say wait list time.
