hey sorry to make a separate post, but i have to give one of these interviews up, barring any last minute openings. i read on alleyes thread about ucdavis having strong faculty in cornea, glaucoma and that the residents are happy.

any thoughts on NYU/MEETH? how many different hospitals do you have to cover? any thoughts on happiness? is uc-davis better than nyu/meeth or about the same...?

I know NYU covers MEETH, Tisch(NYU) hospital, Bellevue Hospital, the VA, and Lenox Hill hospital. The residents seem pretty happy. (I rotated as a med student.) Can't comment about UC davis.

Go to UC Davis.

I would go to NYU if say you have a strong desire to live in Manhattan (or at least to try it out). But I don't think NYU would offer better training over UC Davis.

IMO you can't really say whether residents are "happy" or not just by rotating through as a med student, not unless you're super-tight with them. I don't know that I would say they're super-happy...but not unhappy...
