NYU Waitlist

Not yet. There is at least one student in the group that is on the waitlist who had asked if anyone was giving up their seat. I think there were about 3 people who responded that they chose a different school.
The group has had a consistent stream of new members for the past many months. A lot of people have just not bothered to find it, or have only recently solidified their choice of school, or they're actually from D1-D4 and are just looking for roommates, haha.

I hear that Dr. Mejia calls you first and then an email follows shortly after. And the packet comes via postal mail I believe.
And I don't think the waitlist has begun to move yet.

Has anyone talked to adcom within the last week? I thought there would be some movement by now....there is absolutely no chance there class is full right now, right?

Did you guys see this poll? Of course, it's been up since December so some of those spots may have been filled by now if they withdrew before 2nd deposit.

When I called on Monday, the lady in the office said waitlist was unexpected so just wait from now till August. This waiting is killing me now..
I wish I could go back in time to an hour ago before I read this. I was so full of hope back then. 🙁

No.. I mean they even did not know when the waitlist is gonna move cause it's so unpredictable. Sorry for confusion.

How could this be?? The second deposits should have been due by now, right? How could they not be able to predict the waitlist if they know how many people didn't pay their second deposits?

The facebook group has gotten larger this week. I'm not sure if the new members are present NYU students, people admitted earlier and just joining now, or people from the wait list. Im hoping its not the latter.
Yeah I know. It's strange that no one even mentioned they got off the waitlist this year. Last year it was every other day students were getting of the waitlist.

It has been asserted that the waitlist moves around April (as per last year), late April, early May, now, August.
Second deposits for admitted candidates are to be postmarked by April 2nd in the amount of $3500.
The process of getting moved from the waitlist to admission involves a call from Dr. Mejia, an email thereafter, and a packet later on.
A post on 3/14 claimed that there is 15 spots open in the class of 232. 9 of the 98 admitted students on predent.com have the status of attending. Many students have chosen not send in a second deposit to NYU as per a recent poll. A recent increase in the number of members to the class of 2016 facebook page indicates either more acceptances or upperclassmen joining the group to give information or seek housing. There has been two students posting recent admission since March 1st on the official NYU Class of 2016 thread.
List of posters who appear to be on the waitlist; hellopeople, Parle G, SLYgUy2098, glassbowl, dentite1127, tvj16, orthodental, KCCanuck, deerpark, hs113891, sg89, organicman22, BRM3488, planisphere, letsdoitbama, user122, and myself. 17 in total. Btw, when calling admissions what do you guys say? I have emailed and called once but if I called again I would feel like I am nagging at them and that they wouldn't like it.

They said it should be "in the near future". I'm assuming it's coming up this week or next hopfully.

nope. an e-mail saying congratulations and that my acceptance packet is in the mail. 🙂
enough that dr. mejia knew my name/face. i went over there a few times and called a lot whenever i could think of a question to ask.
