Hi everyone.

I have done the NYU interview last weekend,, what are the chances I get in to NYU? the interview was better than great..

If the interview went well, then there's a good chance you'll get in. Most schools won't bother to interview you unless your stats are good enough for them to accept you. Good luck.

Lets think of it this way:

There are two possible options the admissions comittee can choose: accept or reject. Because there are two possible choices, only one of which is a favorable outcome, accept, then there is a 50% chance of acceptance.

So it all depends on how lucky you are.

hey~ rahzan2
congrats!
can I ask what your stats are?
I am also waiting for the interview invitation from NYU.

Thanks.

if the interview was "better than great", then why ask? unless you're just here for a pat on the back...

People come to SDN for two reasons:

1. To show off their ridiculous stats and 600 interviews and to bask in the glow of thier own spendiferous radiance
2. They're so incredibly desperate for help they turn to the type 1 people for advice and get mostly derision.

I'm a type 2'er trying to hang out with the type 1 people 😎

We're all type 1's to a certain extent. Despite technological advances (precluding us from competing as hard for food, shelter, etc) and a sophisticated brain, in many ways we still live in a very Darwinian world.

wouldn't it suck to be kicked out of nyu dental after 3rd year? I mean, almost 300k debt and nothing to show for it. Makes me wonder how many of those let go become suicidal or are forced to leave the country just to eliminate the debt!!!!

Thanks for showing your 1500+ of dental assisting hours.

I was thinking more of the deplorable GPAs. I could have 6.022x10^23 assisting hours and I probably wouldnt get a second look

I thought the same thing too. How often do people get kicked out of d-school after their 3rd year?

How long does it take for the application to get processed once it's complete at NYU? I was told my application was complete as of yesterday. Thanks

Except that would only happen if you failed multiple classes...and they would kick you out at any school for that.

I agree with armorshell. You guys gotta get the NYU kick people out idea out of your minds. These are rumors and they were never true. You have to fail at least 4 classes a semester to be considered to fail out. fail 4 classes for ONE semester..and you aren't touching me or my family's mouth. NYU is not a school that hold people's hands and gurantee graduation. In fact, I'm sure all of you know that NYU accepts about 230 students each upcoming class. Because of that, there are always some in there that just never belonged to dental school.
In general, rumors about most dental schools aren't true. I suggest everybody to attend all interviews and really get to see every school.

thats not entirely true..they accept alot more than 230 to fill their class size of 240. and its not like they admit bums with 2.5 gpas..its still quite competitive there. getting an acceptance is something to be proud of..for any dental school.

No dental school will hold your hand and make sure u graduate. You make the experience as good as u want it to be. I think NYU offers way more than enough for students that need help, they just need to seek it. You guys will end up enjoying NYU if u come here, i really am right now, along with everyone I know here. Good luck guys.

I agree with jlo26. And to respond to pbure, you can never know a person if they'll fit in for the school or not. Some could have 4.0 from a very easy school. GPA doesn't neccesarily gurantee success in dental school. Yes, anybody should be grateful for an acceptance from any school. I totally agree. I hate those ppl that think they are "supposed" to be accepted and diss schools that are "lower" than themselves. What I was trying to say was that, out of 240 students, it's hard for the admission to predict all 240 students to succeed in dental school. So in terms of number of students that fail out, NYU would have a bit more because of the original class size. I was reading the interview feedbacks and lots of people was unsatisfied with NYU because some people passed by were whispering "don't come here". Seroiusly, if you go ask them why they came here, they'll tell you they only got into NYU and they had no choice. NYU is a great school, if you visited there...you'll be very impressed.

Hahah! Mole joke  ... and so close to Mole Day too! Wait, how do you know when you're a chemistry major???

There are four threads with NYU in the title on the front page. Has anybody ever thought of consolidating threads? It is always better to post in an existing thread than to start another.
