Yeah, I got in a few weeks ago and I'm almost positive that I'm going there. Good Luck, I hope you get in! Have you heard from any other schools yet?

Yeah, I am wait listed on another school. I haven't heard from others yet.. When did you turn in your application? What is your GPA? I heard you need to have at least a 3.5 or above to be competitive. Do they do interviews?

I sent in my application sometime in January. I have a 3.55 overall gpa and higher than that for my prereq gpa. No, they don't do interviews. Let me know if you hear anything.

I just got into NYU. My undergrad GPA wasn't anything to brag about - 3.2. My pre-requisites were probably about a 3.5. I did a TON of shadowing and had good references and I think that's why I got in everywhere I applied. I am so excited about starting OT school but I'm afraid of making the wrong decision. I've also been accepted to Columbia and SUNY Downstate so this is a tough decision! Since NYU is the most expensive of the three, I think it's going to be out of the question for me. 🙁

Wow congrats guys! Is there a specific order in which they send out acceptance or rejection e-mails/letters?😀

Asianlad: what is your GPA?? (If you don't mind me asking)

My GPA is 3.043. I think my prerequisite GPA is around 3.2-3.3. I am just upset because I have not heard from most of the schools that I applied to and I am losing hope. I know my GPA is not very competitive and part of the reason why I ended up having that GPA is because of all the accounting and finance classes that I took. I recently graduated with a BS in Business Administration and I just feel like it is the wrong field for me so I decided to get into OT. I do not see myself doing anything else beside OT and I am scared and I always keep thinking about the worse case scenarios. I do not know what I will do if I don't get into any of the programs. I am losing hope and it is upsetting.

I wouldn't lose hope. Your prereq gpa is higher than your overall gpa, which is what they look at more. Also, if you are already wait listed at a school there is still hope. Most people apply to a bunch of programs and they have to choose one, so I'm sure they take a lot of people off of the waiting lists. Good luck!

I know how you feel. I get at bit worried sometimes as well. But it will be okay. Your GPA is not that low at all, and as they stated earlier, your prereqs are decent. I am just going to apply to several places to increase my chances. I know that I truly want to pursue a career in this field. Just remain positive! 🙂 You will get in eventually.

yeah i applied to nyu too and did not get anything in the mail yet.....upsetting...but i did have an interview at midwestern university in Arizona...so hopefully i get in there..who knows..i am really worried i really wanna go to nyu tho

I just got my acceptance today from NYU! It was postmarked 3/11 so don't give up hope yet :xf:

congrats! are you planning on going to nyu??

congrats to you too!!

i haven't decided yet....was also accepted to columbia and 2 other fantastic programs (still waiting on USC). i am incredibly lucky that i have a choice but it is still really stressful! i haven't visited either one so i think i will take a trip out to ny soon (living in los angeles currently) to get a feel for each program.

did you interview at nyu or attend an info session? i am trying to gather as much information before i have to make a decision!!

No, I actually have not visited yet. I am planning on going to an info session later in the month. I'll let you know what I find out!

I havent heard back from NYU yet either. I applied to 6 schools in all, and was accepted at 5 of them. But no word of anything from NYU.

Still waiting to hear back.... hmmmm.... good or bad sign?? hah, Congrats to those of you who were accepted!! 👍

I anxiously waiting to hear back from NYU. I would love to go there. But now this thread has made me even more nervous. So far this past week I've been rushing home from classes just to see if NYU has sent anything. My stats are so-so and that worries me.

Did anyone else receive news?

Just to let you all know, I was accepted to NYU and I just sent back my reply to them declining admittance. Hopefully that will open up some spots for one of you. New York was just too expensive of a place to live for me. Good Luck.
