Yeah, I think the above question is too vague and essentially a waste of space on this board. Your lucky people on this board are tolerant. On other forums, lazy people like you who refuse put forth ANY effort and repost STUPID questions like "Anyone have any info on NYU" get flamed.
And next time you get so angry by someone giving you advise like "use a search button", you better double up on your meds and try to keep your cool.

NYU is too expensive, accepting over 220 students for incoming class, each paying around 60K tuition... Jesus!

Sure it is. Nobody's being forced to enroll at NYU; they can always take another school's offer, or if there aren't any, abandon dentistry altogether.
I'd say that it worth every penny! i much rather go to a school in a city like NYC rather than attending UConn (with all the respect) which is in the middle of no where. UConn in an excellent school (had the highest grades on second boards for the last 2 yrs) and is the cheapest, but the location sucks. This is of course a personal opinion.

That's a pretty good inference.
I'd say that anyone from NYU is better prepared clinically than from most other schools just from the amount of experience they have. Each student I'm guessing has to have over 100 patients there by the time they graduate since NYU has a 250,000 patient pool. Chairs on the other hand is something they don't have enough of.

Where do the "patient pool" numbers come from?
250,000 sounds great, but how is that number obtained?

If that's an official NYU number, I think it would be the number of patients in their active/comprehensive (patients with ongoing tx plans) and recall pools (pts with completed tx plans). Probably does not include walk-in emergencies (pts with no tx plans, limited tx only) or inactive (pts discharged for various reasons such as excessive cancellations and disappointments).
Their websites says NYU gets 20,000 new patients every year.. Now THAT's impressive.

I've seen the number thrown around a couple times. I remember it was mentioned at NYU both at the interview and in the materials they distributed. I've seen it here but it probably originated from NYU.
It does make sense to me since I went there a couple times during the application process and during undergrad (I have a family friend who works there) and it was always packed with patients. I know of people who go to NYU from NJ and the 5 boroughs of NYC. I know of a couple dentists who refer their patients to the school when they can't afford their services.
