Hi, my fellow Alaskan! Where are you? I'm taking my prereq classes at UAF right now.

I recommend Oregon State University. I took the general chem sequence there last summer. They give instate tuition to everyone during the summer, which made OSU the cheapest summer college I could find in the northwest, other than UNR. Corvallis is a beautiful town, and OSU just finished a new building for the chemistry classes. Rent and cost of living are reasonably cheap. The public transportation is pretty good and free for students. There are lots of apartments and college-roommate houses within walking distance of the campus, so you won't really need a car if you don't want one.

Another good possibility is University of Nevada Reno. They have the same deal, instate tuition for everyone, and their classes were slightly cheaper than OSU's. If you want to go here, you will need to sign up for class the day summer registration opens. I waited a little too long last summer and had to scramble around looking for another college I could go to. I didn't like Reno very much; it isn't a very friendly city, but the cost of living and rent are very good.

Idaho State, University of Idaho and Western Washington University were other cheap options I looked at. IIRC the Idaho schools started really early in the summer, which might be good for you.

All of these colleges probably have organic over the summer. Look at past schedules to find out if they usually offer the course.

Thank you for the info. I am in Palmer attending UAA. Ochem is my last pre req!! DAT and application this spring. The sequence is 2 months right? I know peeps in Corvalis and Reno so that'd work great. Il check into the other options. Thanks again. Glad to get some AK input

At OSU general chem was fifteen credits on the quarter system, which equals ten credits on UAA's system. There were three classes at five credits each. The first two were four weeks, and the last was just three weeks. Obviously the pace was fast, but I liked having just one class to concentrate on. I don't know if the schedule for organic is identical to general chem or not, but that should be easy for you to look up.
