I will be writing my OAT in the next 10 months, and I was wondering how long does it really take one person to study for the OAT considering I will be in school till June? I really want to apply early, and so I want to get my OAT done before July *crossed fingers*. If ever I don't get the OAT done by then, should I still send in my application?

What is the best method to study for the OAT, I know bookstores that sell the prep practice questions OAT book for within 40$, but it doesn't seem enough. Would you recommend the Kaplan Course?

I just wrote my OATs last week, and did pretty well. I bought the Kaplan OAT book from someone who took the Kaplan class. I also used Chad's videos (it cost $40 for a month subscription. I had much less time to study. But looking back, I would have just gotten Chad's videos and bought the OAT Destroyer.

My TS: 380 (97.3%)
My AA: 370 (98.5%)

If you have time, I recommend getting your hands on some MCAT books. I didn't take the class, but I bought Kaplan's Big Blue book from a friend who took the class. I found the book to be useful, but didn't go over some subjects in as much details as I would like, so I started using MCAT books as a supplement. You probably don't need to know all the details that the MCAT books cover, but reading through the book definitely helps clear up any confusion (plus they have really helpful charts). There's also a review book with a lot of practice questions for physics, ochem, and gen chem.

I just wrote my OAT 2 weeks ago. Granted I was in school while doing it but was working a full time summer job. I gave myself about 10 weeks to study, 6 weeks to review using the Kaplan DAT book (which is identical to the Kaplan OAT book) plus the Kaplan SAT II physics review book and 4 weeks to work through the OAT destroyer and practice exams. I scored a 350 AA (92.7%) and 350 TS (87%). If you're a science major I feel like 6 weeks is enough study time but if you'll be go about your normal course load and tyign to studying I would definitely space it out some more.

Perhaps try taking a few practice exams and see where you're at - it will help you figure out if you need timew to just review and tweak your skills or hardcore study/learning time.

Thank you all for the help. Really appreciate it. As for the kaplan DAT book, I can only get that from someone who already took the course right? And what is the difference between the OAT book and the OAT destroyer?

Nope! You can get the Kaplan OAT book for the bookstore. You might need to order it as the stores don't seem to have a ton on the shelf so be sure to do that early. The Kaplan book is essentially a textbook that you'; use to learn/review the info. the OAT Destroyer is just questions and solutions, ideally to be used once you've completed your review.
