Hi everyone,

I'm considering switching over to pre-optometry from pre-med. I've taken the MCAT a few times and I'm wondering how the OAT compares (difficulty-wise) to the MCAT. Any other helpful insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! 🙂

I took both as well and I thought the OATs were much more straightforward because it contains free standing questions as opposed to reading a passage and trying to figure out what you need to use to answer the questions. If you studied hard for the MCAT you should be in good standing for the OATs.
I think the bio section is a bit different though.

I would have to agree with the previous post. I would also say that I think that the MCAT is a lot more difficult. So, if you've studied the MCAT, you should really have no problem with the OATs. I actually studied out of an MCAT book in preparation for the OATs, and I did very well. Hope this helps. Good luck.
