I took my first OAT in January of this year. I had heard that the opted test was extremely close to the OAT. After taking the test I felt as if the opted test was much easier than the OAT. Am I the only one that feels this way?

I actually found that to be true as well. My scores on the opted practice test was much higher than the actual test, specially for Bio and Quant sections.

You are the only one! Opted test was very basic for biology... such as enzymes, different types of kingdoms, and cell biology. Extremely disappointed on how different the biology section was and random. Both QR and QC are over simiplified in the opted test and do not indicate at all how you will do on the test. These 2 sections are make it or break it because they are more depended on speed. I regret not using the OAT destroyer, everyone has told that their material is in the content of the actual OAT.

Ditto. I was scoring in the 330's on the opted test and scored very poorly on the actual oat.

It makes sense. The opted test still uses the old scoring, so real oats with the new scale will be 20 or 30 points lower. They should really apply the new scale to the opted.

hey ya'll. i'm new here as far as posting, but have been reading threads pretty frequently since i have the oat in 6 days... anyways, so since the oat scoring scale is harder does the admissions board take that into consideration? i mean, 20 to 30 points off is quite a big margin lol.

Yes, all the schools know about the new scoring of the OATs and will take that into account... Most of the other applicants will have the newly scaled OAT scores as well.
