I could never remember which ones were purines and pyrimidines until my teacher came up with this:
PU AG (PUrines: Adenine Guanine)
PY CT U (PYrimidines: Cytosine and Thyamine (DNA)/Uracil (RNA)
You say it like "Poo AG Picked You"
And I always remember that the smaller word has the double ring (purines) and pyrimidines have only one ring.
You CUT the "py" (pie)
This means that the other two, AG, are obviously not "py."
