OAT Optional?

Actually, Indiana this year made the OAT optional for admittance.

You’re right, they did! So I wonder if these schools will still be biased towards those who submit scores (and are high)? I can see how that can still be a disadvantage to some, so either make it test mandatory or no test accepted. There’s no answer to this, as there is a centralized application that gets submitted to multiple schools (since some schools require and others it’s optional)—can’t choose who see’s what.

I wonder if any similar studies have been done to see if there is any association between OAT scores and socioeconomic status/demographics. I agree that the schools choosing to waive it as necessary should have to completely exclude the exam rather than make it optional. I'm curious to see how/if this will change optometry school and other graduate school admissions in the near future and beyond!
