Hey guys, I just took the OAT today. I was really shocked to see that I didn't do as well as I thought I would. I applied to (4) schools, in September so everything is already in file (HS transcripts ,college transcripts, LORs). The following are the schools I applied to along with my college cum gpa and OAT. If you guys think I have a shot at any school, I would appreciate it. Also, do you think I can delay the status of my application by asking them to retake it?

SUNY
PCO
MCO
NOVA

(BS degree) bio major/chem minor
cumulative gpa: 3.01

Bio: 290 (big suprise b/c i was avg 320 on all practice tests)
Gchem: 320
OChem: 330
Physics: 320
RC: 260 (also big suprise b/c i was avg 300)
QR: 260

AA: 300
TS: 320

hey,
SUNY for sure will tell u the scores are low. I had 320 AA and TS with 290 Bio, 300 GC and RC as my lowest scores. They put me on hold without an interview and asked me to retake them which i did this December. Now I am waiting for a response, my file was complete I would say by October or maybe November.
You might want to call up the schools and see what they feel because I think some schools have a deadline for the latest OAT scores they accept.
Good luck!

I had same TS and AA scores as you. I also scored a 260 RC comprehension BIG shock. I had a 3.6 gpa, and A LOT of extracurriculars I was really involved. Call and ask the status of your app, and if there is anythign you can do. I've been accepted into 2 schools and still ahve another interview. Keep your head up and pray for the best. Waiting game is the worst I KNOW!! lol. Best of luck!!😍

so fonz, u think i dont stand a chance with any of the 4 schools that i have applied to with these oat scores and gpa?

I think you should call the schools and tell them that you are planning on retaking the OATS (with the OAT date you are going to do it) and study uber hard for the exam. I think by sending your scores of your retake, it will automatically reopen your file, but I am not completely sure. Best of luck!

It's really important to get above average OAT scores with a below average GPA. Definitely retake the test, it'll greatly improve your chances! And don't give up! :luck:

What do TS and AA mean? Overall score and scaled score? I am taking the OAT tomorrow! I am confident in Bio RC and to some extent chem but am dreading the organic and QR sections! Physics is up in the air at the moment. I already have an interview with ICO so hopeful they will look at everything else if I get a poor score.

Did anybody have any issues with time? That will most likely be my downfall if I don't get a great score.

TS=total science
AA=academic average

I walked into the OATs very confident on the RC section and that was actually my lowest score and biggest disappointment and that was because I wasn't careful with the time and ran out and couldn't answer the last few questions. Sooo definitely be careful with time and I highly recommend that you keep calm even with a few minutes left. I got really flustered at the end of the section and kept having to reread passages and questions which took up more time! So just pace yourself, keep calm or do some breathing exercises when you panic and I'm sure you'll do fine. Plus, if you already have an interview with ICO without your OAT scores then that suggests they believe you are a strong candidate and that should relieve some stress on the OAT scores. Good luck!

Alright, so here's the breakdown:

400 Bio
330 Gen Chem
280 Organic 🙁
290 RC 🙁
300 Physics
340 QR

TS 330
AA 320

What do you guys think? I will probably have to explain the RC and QR for the interview, but hopeful they'll be impressed with the Bio!
