Hi everyone! I am officially starting to study for the OAT and planning to take it in Mid-May/Early June depending on how prepared I feel! I do have a few questions regarding a study schedule:
What was your daily schedule like regarding the different subjects? Would you recommend to do a complete content review of one subject or a few pages of each every day?

** I plan on using DatBootCamp Biology notes, Chad's Videos for Gen Chem, Organic chem & physics, Kaplan book for QR and RC.

Kaplan is horrible for QR. I used Kaplan and old textbooks to study for organic chem and physics.

I studied for 10 months while working part-time and also because I had to re-learn all the topics (I've been out of school for a while). While working part-time, I had 3-4 days off where I would study 6-10 hours per day, taking frequent breaks throughout the day. I gave myself a deadline to finish studying (about 1.5 months before test day) and divided up all my topics up until that deadline. I did practice tests and review up until test day. Ended up with AA 360 / TS 370 (91 percentile), lowest section score was QR 320 (barely studied for QR) and highest RC 400.

Personally, I don't think 2.5-3 months would be enough to review all the topics thoroughly. It's doable, but it will be stressful and you'll always feel like there isn't enough time in a day to finish studying.

I can't make a recommendation for QR because I only used Kaplan, but you can try looking through the OAT discussion board for alternative materials to use. However, I do recommend taking one of the free Kaplan full-length tests as a diagnostic tool to see what you need to actually work on. I would say your foundation knowledge is pretty solid if you're scoring 320+ on a section of the Kaplan test because it's more difficult than the actual OAT.

I thought the QR section would be straight forward algebraic word problems and calculations, which I was prepared for, but the actual OAT was more conceptual and had a lot more statistics questions than I had anticipated. The Kaplan end-of-chapter practice questions for QR were definitely not representative of what appeared on my OAT. For example, I had several questions that asked me to compare 2 equation statements, and I had to answer if the statement 1 and/or 2 were true/false/equal to each other. I'm sure each OAT test is generated randomly, so it might've just been my test.

I worked a full time job and studied about 2-3 hours a night. I would give myself one off day until it got closer to time. I started trying with DatBootCamp and OAT destroyer, but it the end Chads Videos on coursesaver was the only thing that I felt I was making progress with. I studied for 3 months. Coursesaver is about $50/month but includes videos, quizzes, practice tests, and you can even create your own study schedule. You enter in what days you want to study, how long, and what subjects and it will create your own personal study schedule! I have been out of school since May of 2018 and took my test November of 2019. I ended up with a 330. I would recommend taking the Kaplan free practice test as its harder than the actual thing. And then every 2 to 3 weeks I would find another free test online and take it. Hope this helps!
