Oat? When should i write it.

IM in my 3rd yr and will be applying this yr with a 3.1 gpa, i still haven't written the OAT.
am i supposed to write it before i apply?

i will be applying to PCO and NECO.

Since your gpa is on the low end of the spectrum, getting a higher OAT score will be essential.

I think you should take your OAT asap, so that you will have enough time to retake it in case you get a score that is below satisfactory. Maybe take it in May/June, since the application for the next cycle starts in July.

Don't take the OAT without first studying the materials! It'll just be waste of your time. Make sure you know basic ochem and gen chem. That will helps loads. But yes, start studying early and take it as soon as you feel somewhat prepared that way you can retake it if score isn't high enough🙂

Try to take it directly after Physics II, Chem II, and Organic I or II. That way, it'll require less studying.

Yes you will also get into almost any other school with a 350/360 OAT, NECO you don't need that much. Also I think how you interview, the quality of your college education (university vs cc) and if you have a up-curve in your grades matters ALOT. I had below average stats for SUNY but I applied super early and had all of the above.

How do you know having a up-curve (upward trend is what I am guessing you mean) matters a lot?

(I'm not calling you out....just curious how some people can go on the record and make certain claims without any real evidence)
