Hi everyone!
I am in the process of applying to Optometry school but I am a little afraid that it is too late and I will not be prepared for the OATs. I took the Natural Sciences prep that came along with the OAT guide on the Thomson website and scored 9/12 questions without review...thats a 75% is that a decent score. i guess what I am asking is that what is an equivalent OAT score of a 75% ? Thanks!

So tienn what made you decide OD over PharmD? and as far as your question goes you are not too late, I had a friend get into SCCO two years ago and he didn't apply till Feb and interview till March, but found out in late April that he was accepted (his GPA was around a 3.3 and his OAT a 310 but he did have killer extracurricular stuff). I think if you scored a 75% on the OAT overall that would be a very good score and likely around a 350 or higher which could get you into almost any school as long as your other application stuff is average or better. You should though try some more lengthy practice tests from OAT Acheiver, TopScore Pro, and/or Kaplan.

Lol - how did you know? i haven't really decided, its just an option. my optometrist has given me a lot to think about and working at Savon has not been the best experience...
My excuse is that i'm in my twenties and confused about life altogether 😀

by the way what does Lol mean? I see that everywhere, and please excuse my ignorance.

also please check my post on this thread again as I edited it and it doesn't look like I did it in time for you to respond.

I knew about you and PharmD because I was trying to decide the same thing and have been on the PharmD forum too and have seen you post there🙂

please expand on your reasons for now leaning towards OD instead of PharmD and please see the thread titled benefits that is here: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=248343

LOL - laughing out loud

umm, i guess recently i just looked at my future and asked myself what would make me more happy. optometry has always been in my mind since i entered college, but somehow it was pushed away by the stability and the economic comfort that pharmacy brings and by family. and pharmacy has stuck for the last couple of years

needless to say, i am still very anxious and stressed out about my pharmacy applications and hopefully await interview invites. so far only ucsd (keeping my fingers crossed)

so now i question myself whether i really want to go into optometry. Since i was so elated when i got my interview at ucsd, and still ever so hopeful of usc and ucsf...

**still confused**
