Just wondering if this is normal? You have an OB pt on med/surg, mom is on the floor for whatever reason unrelated to anything OB. Mom is struggling and a code is called and stat C/S is done in the pt's med/surg room.
 
I've seen it happen but I've never done it: Peri-mortem c-section. (There's a whole thread on it, here.)

By definition it gets done right there, right now, wherever they are. Yeah, and it usually freaks everyone out that sees it. Very bloody.

I've got to say... this is probably my worst nightmare of being an EP. I could do it, but man do I hope I never have to.

Yes.

Are the outcomes good?

Seldom.


Ours wasn't run in the Pt room....she coded in the hallway wheeling the gurney fast to OR.... CS was handled by the OB and a GS in the pre-op.

See, momma was right, avoid being a GS because bad **** always flows your way.
