Hey,
I'm an MSII and have a friend (not in medicine) whose father is an Ob/Gyn who practiced in the mid-Atlantic area for over 20 years. Several years ago, he lost more than one malpractice suit and was forced out of his private practice. Mainly due to the high malpractice premiums that followed, he was unable to find another profitable position. He has not worked since, and does not want to return to medical practice.
Do any of you have ideas on what kind of jobs he could look into? The only issue is that he's not board-certified; that was never a problem while he practiced, until the lawsuits. However, board-certification seems necessary for most insurance and teaching jobs. I believe enough time has passed that the malpractice suits have cleared his record in our state. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
