If you have a low income, you can apply for government aid. You would get Medicaid for dental care and you will get Medicare for medical care. Anyways, Medicaid reimbursements are really low. It only covers certain procedures (fillings, anterio rcts, crowns(in certain cases), and braces, etc).

So in a sense its bad for dental providers but good for low income families? When you mean reimbursements you mean like how much dental providers are getting paid for those procedures?

Yes that's exactly what I mean. It's not bad for dental providers since it's up to them to accept Medicaid or not.

You do not get Medicare, that's for people over 65.

Obamacare is not people getting Medicaid either. You get Medicaid through the state. In many states, Medicaid pays more than some dental insurance plans.

I don't intend to spread false information at all buddy, I'm not an expert at all about this topic and never claimed to be. I talked about Medicaid since it's the most used government aid program here (based on my experience)... and none of the things I mentioned about Medicaid are false so go figure :/... and yes Medicaid can have higher reimbursements than other private insurances at SOME states, but here in Illinois, they are a joke. and hmm I saw people with Medicare who were not over 65 years old, there is more to it I guess.

Orthodontists make good money too but they have to see a lot of patients as well. (Here at Illinois, so people don't take my info the wrong way and get butt hurt)

You get Medicaid through the state, but one part of Obamacare expanded Medicaid so now more people can qualify if their state cooperates with the federal government. I think this is what previous posters were describing.

I'm pretty sure the only people under 65 who are eligible for Medicare are people who receive Social Security Disability Insurance after a minimum number of years.

Technically, Medicare does not cover dental care. Only emergencies or in-patient care are covered. So basically just extractions.
