Is there anyone here who has previously graduated from Edinburgh or RVC and has been successful at obtaining an internship and residency in the US? I know that both schools are accredited and that a BVM&S is equivalent to a DVM but do graduates of UK schools still have the same chances as those in the US to the same internships and residencies? Do you think there is any downside to attending either school (Edinburgh or RVC) if your main goal is to return to practice in the States after graduation?

I know a vet who was doing their residency at the UF large animal hospital who graduated from Edinburgh, and was also scottish. The schools have a great reputation, and I believe your degree will give you equivalent opportunities.

^ Agreed. I know several people who went to schools in the UK and Australia and did academic residencies in the U.S.

Thats awesome to know! I think I may actually look into to that!

Edinburgh will allow you to compete for an internship/residency the same as if you attended a US school. The grading/class rank system may be different from schools here, but that can be explained/overcome. It is an AVMA accredited school, so the opportunities for further education are there.
