this might be a silly question but i'm kind of confused.
EN trend is diagonal stronger towards F (up, right)
BUT in OC,
why is Cl, Br, I more electronegative than C?
they are all below C (although more to the right than C)

any help explaining this would be great!

Electronegativity decreases as such: F>O>N~Cl>Br>I>S~C>H

You should just memorize the trend because it is very important
