Hey all, on the opted practice test, #87 on the ochem section is really stumping me.

It asks for the reagents and starting product that could make H3CH2C-COH(CH3)2

The answer is H3CH2C-C=OCH3 + KOH + KCN.

Where does the extra methyl group come from?
