On this problem I see Br is 180 degrees from the Hydrogen (bond). I see two bulky are on the trans position, not on the same side. Can anyone please explain this question for me? Thanks!

if you draw a newman projection you'll see that the two tertbutyls are the closest they can be to each other on a gauche position.. Even though the Br and the H are anticoplanar to each other the product will be considered minor because the molecule itself is not likely to be in this confirmation (I just learned that part from the explanation lol) anyways hope that helped 🙂
