can anyone explain about aldol condensation and how to go about
figuring out reducing sugar? I didn't take second course of ochem
so this is kinda hard for me. I searched through kaplan blue book
and online but I still don't get it....

aldol condensation

2 aldehyde
or -> becomes B-hydroxyl aldehyde (or ketone)
2 ketone

if u see aldehyde or ketone and ... it reacts with a base

then think of aldol condensation

for reducin sugar, look for a hemiacetal.

thats what I was confused about. I searched what hemiacetal
was and it says its just an OH group on C-1, but in topscore
problem, most of the answer choices had OH group on C-1.
