Hey has anyone heard from howard? its getting to be november almost. just seein if they have contacted anyone yet.

They haven't started sending out invites yet. I checked last week, the admission commitee hasn't met yet to decide which students to invite. It is just sad.

The School: Overall, the school is very good. Most of the professors are very passionate about their particular subject, although sometimes some of them can be a bit too passionate. Most students complain about the ADMINISTRATION.. staff with horrible attitudes, long lines to register for classes, even longer financial aid lines, and even longer housing lines!! but things have gotten ALOT better.. mainly due to students being able to do these things online

Location: Howard itself is in the heart of the ghetto. Most people know not to wander around Georgia Avenue too late at night. Many people have been mugged along "the Ave." Before you think twice about Howard, please know that most of these people were idiots asking to be mugged.. lol. you know the ones that wear Gucci and pearl diamonds wandering around at 4 in the morning.. stuff like that. DC is a really nice but really expensive area. There are many places that are undergoing renovations and restorations. Pretty soon, I predict DC will be ultra exclusive and posh (my kind of place).

Atmosphere: Howard has one of the best college social scenes. There is plenty to do, and there are many kinds of people. Most people are cool, but of course you have those snobs who stick their noses up at everyone else.

Places to live: If you have the money, you can really live in style in DC. Some of the best areas are:
-Dupont
-Georgetown
-U Street/Adams Morgan

Dental School Facilities: Although the building is a bit outdated, the dental school has a brand new, million-dollar, state-of-the-art simulation lab for D1 (maybe D2 also.. I don't remember). Its really nice. The ortho clinic is also brand new and also very nice. Not far from the dental school is the Health Sciences Library. As the name implies, this is mainly for med school, dental school, and undergrad students in life sciences. It is fairly new and very nice.

Cost: The tuition at Howard is fairly cheap compared to other dental schools. I think its est. $180-190k for all 4 years, including living expenses, etc.

**One more thing: I've seen some threads from non-black students applying to Howard worried that Howard will reject them because of that. I mean yes, Howard is predominantly black, but there are plenty of white, Asian, and non-black Hispanic students.

well, finally I got the email from Howard confirming an invite date for nov 2nd. Here is the actually email:

So, I guess howard has just started its interview process. to all of you who applied to howard hopefully you will get this email too. Good luck to everyone.
oh, by the way, I didn't choose that day. So, I guess we have no choice to select a date to go to the interview, which sucks if you have an exam or something else that you scheduled to go to earlier.
I am excited but not as much as the first one. waw, the first time when I knew I skipped school and just spent the whole day drinking. It was sweet.
